Before I begin, let us remember there are always exceptions to the rule. But in most situations this is the standard, when you are in control of your life and actions and you make stupid decisions, stupid things happen. Many people chalk up sudden fortunate events or unfortunate events to luck, good or bad. And with the exception of winning the lottery and a few other things I have a hard time giving in to that.
Usually when something happens you can follow a long trail of decisions and actions leading up to that event that caused it to happen. For instance, I grew up with many friends as we got older we all chose different paths i busted my ass in high school for the love of a sport that I knew could take me somewhere, it did. In college I busted my ass to be the best and made a name for myself and aquired knowledge and experience in my chosen academic field and in my sport. I then became known for my knowledge in those things after college i met a gentle man who happened to be successful in my chosen field and who as also interested in my athletic skill. I ended up with a job and an opportunity to offer my skill and knowledge to a kid who was seeking it.
Now many looking at the end result would say i got lucky and for a long time i thought the same until i gave it some thought and followed the trail. and it all started with a concious decision to do the right thing and make something of myself, and guess what it set of a chain of events that led up to the so called lucky position that I find myself in now.
Now on the other hand some of the individuals that i grew up with chose different paths. Many of them chose to do the wrong things, drugs, stealing senseless fighting and so on. They made no effort to better themselves, just went along with what was in front of them and thus setting off a chain of unfortunate events (bad luck). And now many of them are dead or in prison, bad luck ? and even if you are someone that makes good decisions does the right thing but still chooses to surround yourself by people who do the opposite you may become victim of other peoples choices. Again there are always exceptions to the rules, but usually things work this way.
What bothers me is how so many people instead of realizing and owning up to their actions always blame luck, which in their mind rids them of all responsibility. Now an athlete trains day in and day out to better their chances of winning they don't just sit around doing nothing and hope they get "lucky" , you are in a hospital awaiting surgery do you want a doctor that has done nothing to prepare to do this type of work and say "i hope i get lucky today and do this right" ? i think not. OWN UP TO YOUR ACTIONS , ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY !!! I'm done !
